Obituary
On 3 November 2006, following serious illness, our senior director, Mr Dieter Küster, passed away.
Mr Dieter Küster was born in Ehringshausen on 28.09.1935 as the second of four children. After taking his higher-level school leaving examinations at the then Goethe School in Wetzlar, Mr Dieter Küster entered his parent's business on 01.04.1954.
The first major decisive point in the life of Mr Dieter Küster was the premature death of his father in June 1958; associated with this painful loss was the huge responsibility and obligation to address the needs of the Küster business and to lead the company as a managing shareholder from October 1959.
This decisive point simultaneously also meant having to put aside his childhood dream for the time being – that of livestock breeding and veterinary medicine. But his enormous love of nature and animals as well as hunting remained an important companion throughout his successful journey through life. He also gained worldwide reputation through his successful breeding of Friesian cattle.
Apart from these commitments it was above all his family and the preservation of the Küster Group which continuously drove him on. For many decades he held responsible positions within the employers' association, the chamber of commerce and industry and as a member of the supervisory board of the present day Volksbank in Wetzlar–Weilburg.
However, Mr Dieter Küster gained his good reputation and the respect of his family, friends, employees and the people in the municipality of Ehringshausen and its surrounding districts through his bigheartedness, social commitment and his willingness to listen to all his fellow human beings. The high regard and respect the deceased won was therefore only a sign of his enormous personal creativity and vitality.
On reaching his 65th birthday, Mr Dieter Küster retired from active management but his conciliatory and ever present manner were and continue to be a guiding principle for the Küster company. At this time the Küster Group has more than 2,500 employees worldwide in 11 companies. In September 2005, he celebrated his 70th birthday with his family, friends and well-wishers.
All who knew Mr Dieter Küster will never forget his positive and humane manner, despite his health problems.
